Argentina 2010

12 Days, 11 nights

Please join me on a tour which I have delighted in creating for our group. After having spent some great times in South America, I have fallen hard for Argentina and you will too! The food, wine, people and sights are incredible. This country’s offerings are a treat for all your senses. We will be staying in wonderful accommodations and eating well throughout our journey.

While in Buenos Aires we will enjoy visiting the city and dine well. Our first dinner in Argentina will be memorable as we will dine at Cabana Las Lilias an exquisite restaurant where you will have your first taste of Argentine beef. Prepare yourselves; this is some of the tastiest beef, ever! Also, I’m excited to take the tango lesson that I’ve lined up for us. Tango is so intense and we’ll have some idea of what it takes to dance the way they do after the lesson! Shopping for quality leather goods is a must and I know just the places to go for bargain hunters like myself!

Ah, Mendoza, the wine country. The Andes create a dramatic backdrop for the gorgeous bodegas of this appellation. Our guide is charming and very knowledgeable, a sommelier by training who has the inside scoop and contacts to get us into some very special wineries. The regions’ famous malbec is wonderful!  I have some surprises arranged for our group here as well.  I don’t want to give them away but I will say that the little red house where we will have our tapas cooking class and then dinner will be a culinary experience that you will never forget. I’m still trying to figure out the sorbet taste test that was arranged for me, what fun! The chef whom you will get to know is extraordinary, and soon to be one of the top chefs in Argentina.

I can only begin to describe all that we will see and do, there’s so much more. We will be visiting such climatic and visual extremes, from the giant glaciers of the south, the world’s largest waterfalls in the north, wine country and the Andes in the east, to the European elegance of Buenos Aires in the west. It will be a pleasure to share this country with old and new friends! I look forward to you joining me on this tour! Cheers!
