Tanzania - The Northern Circuit

April - May, 2021 (Dates TBD)
12 Days / 11 Nights


 
       
Early Arrival Day  
Please arrive a day before the safari to acclimate to a new time zone and to be sure that your baggage arrives.  
   
Day 1 (April-May) Arrive Tanzania - Kilimanjaro Airport  

Kilimanjaro airport, TZ visa necessary to enter the country (acquire online through TZ embassy online prior to arrival). Meet your driver. Transfer to our lodge.


Drive time: 1 hour
Overnight: Momella Wildlife Lodge in Arusha National Park

Day 2: (April-May) Arusha National Park  

After breakfast we are off to the first of the national parks, we plan on visiting during the 12 day safari. First a walking safari followed by our first game drive. Animals we many see; monkeys, buffalo, flamingos, giraffes and more.


Walking safari: approximately 3 hours
Game drive: approximately 4 hours

Day 3: (April-May) Arusha – Tarangire National Park  
After breakfast we depart from our lodge and drive to Tarangire National Park. Afternoon and evening game drive along the Tarangire riverbank. The late afternoon is a wonderful time of day to visit the river as all the animals make their way to the river for an evening drink.

Drive time Arusha - Tarangire: approximately 2 hours
Afternoon and early evening game drive: varies with animal sightings, approximately 4 – 6 hours

Day 4: (April-May)Tarangire  
After breakfast were off for our first full day game drive in Tarangire National Park which is reputed to contain largest elephant herds in Africa. During this dry season the animal viewing is amazing as all the animals congregate by the remaining watering holes. After a picnic lunch we will continue for an afternoon game drive.

Day 5: (April-May) Tarangire to Manyara Mto Wa Umbu  
A village where approximately 120 tribes live. We’ll visit one of the many Masai tribes, our guide Albert has a special relationship with the tribe we will be visiting.

Outing length: approximately 4 hours
Drive time: ½ hour

Day 6: (April-May) Karatu – Ngorongoro  

After breakfast we are off to the famed Ngorongoro Crater. This is one of the world’s wonders, considered "The Eighth Wonder of the World”). We’ll be driving on the crater floor and enjoy our picnic lunches at a lake filled with hippos. The crater is the largest unfolded and unbroken caldera in the world, approximately 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 265 square km. Elephants, hippos, black rhinos, lions, wildebeests and more…

Drive time to crater: 1 hr
Game drive: approximately 4 – 5 hours

Day 7: (April-May) Karatu to Lake Eyasi  

After breakfast we will drive from Karatu to Lake Eyasi to learn about the culturally diverse local tribes which include the Hadzabe (bushmen), Datoga and Barabaig people.


Drive time: Aproximately 1 ½ hours
Drive to village: Approximately 1 hour from Lake Eyasi
Overnight: Eyasi Hotel

Day 8: (April-May) Lake Eyasi  

After breakfast we will find the Hadzabe (bushmen), and go hunting and gathering with them. The Hadzabe tribe hunts and gathers their food in the same way their ancestors have for thousands of years.


Drive time: Approximately 1 hour

Day 9: (April-May) Lake Eyasi to the Serengeti National Park  

After breakfast, we are off to our final park. Serengeti National Park (SNP) is one of the world’s most magnificent natural landscapes. Known to the local people as “Siringet”, which means “The place of the endless plains”. The Serengeti is also known for presenting “The greatest wildlife show on Earth”, this would be the annual migration of over one million wildebeest along with the animals that follow them.

Day 10: (April-May) Serengeti Safari  

After breakfast we head into the Central Serengeti. The Central Serengeti is known for predators including leopards, lions and cheetah. We will also see giraffes, zebras, hippos, baboons, wildebeests, warthogs, gazelles, crocodiles and numerous bird species.


Drive time: Game drive, 6 + hours

Day 11: (April-May) Serengeti Safari  
Today we depart early in the morning to watch the animals and their early morning behaviors. We will head back to our camp for lunch and relax a bit before heading out in the early evening to learn more about animal behaviors.

Day 12: (April-May) Serengeti to Arusha  
Pack up before breakfast. After breakfast we take our last game drive on our way to the Seronera Air Strip for our late afternoon flight to Arusha or for some on to Zanzibar.

Extension Excursion Available: Zanzibar  

Zanzibar from $1000 per person 3 nights including air from Arusha or the Serengeti.

Accommodations are in 3-star standard safari lodges and camps. The camps and lodges mentioned in the itinerary are only indicative and can be substituted with your preferred accommodations. Alternative accommodations will be booked subject to availability and individual requests. All accommodations and services are subject to availability at the time of booking.  
   
Pricing  
Group size: 2 – 15 persons $6800 per person (Pricing is approximate at this time)

Our safari built custom Land Cruisers are equipped with safari view seating for 6 passengers. Driver guide and additional seventh seat in the front of the vehicle. Maximum 6 guests per vehicle to ensure best animal viewing from lift top.

Notes:  
  1. Please arrive a day or two before the actual trip start. We depart for our first national park the morning of trip start day. Most international flights arrive in the evenings to TZ.
  2. Please purchase your visa on line prior to arrival in TZ.
  3. Check on line for required vaccines, these change yearly dependent on Yellow fever.
  4. If you wish to donate monetarily to a school or other humanitarian organization please do so through Asante Africa. We will have envelopes for your kind donation available at the safari’s end. We do not recommend giving cash directly to any individuals at schools, villages or institution while on the safari.
  5. A portion of the proceeds from this safari is donated to Asante Africa helping to ensure that they may continue their fine work.
 
   
Deposits  

Payment of a 50% deposit due at the time of booking to reserve your place. Full payment is due 60 days prior to departure. A maximum number of 15 guests will go on this tour. All accommodations and services are subject to availability at the time of booking.

 
   
Cancellation Policy  
All cancellations must be made in writing and be received by email within the outlined time frames listed.

  • More than 90 days before departure of the trip: 50% cancellation fee over the deposit.
  • Less than 90 days before departure: no refunds can be guaranteed. TWS will try to get as much refunded as possible to the client upon negotiation with the local travel suppliers.
